Catholic Schools Week

“Dividends for Life”

In our lives, everyone we encounter has contributed a “dividend” to help us build who we will become or who we are today.  We feel that in celebrating Catholic Schools Week, we should give back, even a small part of what we have been blessed with.

Events for the week:

·         EVENT ONE - A suitcase will be placed in each room during Catholic Schools Week.  We are asking all students to help fill it with items (listed below) for children of the Westmoreland County Child and Youth Services (CYS).  We would like to make what can be a very sad and even frightening experience a little easier by providing them with something they can call their own.  Each grade will collect items fitting to children of that grade/age level.

                        *items in need:

*Diapers                                *Crayons

*Pajamas                                *Coloring Books

*Clothes                                 *Puzzle books

*Socks                                   *Books

*Stuffed animals                      *Hair brushes

*Small travel bags                   *Personal hygiene products

*Slippers                                *Hats/gloves

And any other items you can think of to help out!

·         EVENT TWO – a small container will also be placed in each room.  The room that collects the most money will earn the right to make two laps through the school halls ringing bells on Friday.  Home room moms will be in Thursday afternoon to count the money. All proceeds will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

·         EVENT THREE - on Wednesday we will be visited by men from our Armed Forces for an assembly.  In appreciation for all that they do for us, we will be sending a care package overseas.  This package will consist of a video message from each class as well as individual student messages or hand made pictures of thanks from individual students put together by our eighth grade class. Along with the video, we will be sending boxes of sweets!  We are asking for everyone to  contribute a bag of candy or cookies (homemade or store bought) for our care package.
